His Law

30 Jan

This is the covenant I will establish with them
after those days, says the Lord:
“I will put my laws in their hearts,
and I will write them upon their minds.”  (Heb 10:16)

Children can provide a lot of entertainment.  You could watch them for hours and still find new things to see.

Watching “guilty children” is especially entertaining.

Children who are about to do something wrong are hilarious. They will begin by scanning the environment.  “Is anybody watching?  Do you think anybody will see what we are about to do?”  You can practically see those questions racing through their minds.

Then, the children focus on their intent.  Maybe it is to snatch the cookies that mom said not to touch.  Maybe it is to take a toy from a brother or sister.  Maybe it is to punch a sibling or a friend or a classmate or a stranger.

After the checking and the focusing comes the execution.  They do what they set out to do.

Immediately afterwards, they look around again to see if they were caught.  If they were, they are ready with the excuses.

There is a good reason why they do all of that.

It is because they know they are doing wrong!

God wrote His laws on our minds and in our hearts.

We have a good intuition when we are doing something that we should not be doing.  We know what is right and wrong, good and bad.

God established His covenant with us, gives us His law, and ask us not to break it.
