Have No Fear

13 Jul

Are not two sparrows sold for a small coin?
Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father’s knowledge.
Even all the hairs of your head are counted.
So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.  (Mt 10:29-31)

Fear is a very paralyzing reality.

It is also extremely dangerous.

People who live in fear often end up becoming hurt, many times at their own hands.  For example, someone who is petrified of heights may fall from a high place because their fear immobilizes them and causes them to slip.

Fear stunts us.  If we fear, we will not be able to do what we need in order to grow.

We fear many things: heights, depths, natural elements, loss of love, and, even, God Himself.

A fear of God can keep someone from developing a deep relationship with Him.

Oftentimes we fear that we will not “measure up” to God’s standards, that He will not love us.

Jesus reminds us today that we are loved, that we are worth so much to our God who loves His entire creation.

Rest easy today.  God is love and God loves you — incredibly.

FAITH ACTION:  Pray for those who live in chronic fear, that they may be able to cast their fear aside as they put their trust in the Lord.
