God Is All We Need

17 Aug

God indeed is my savior;
I am confident and unafraid.
My strength and my courage is the LORD,
and he has been my savior.
With joy you will draw water
at the fountain of salvation.  (Is 12:2-3)

There is something within us — within our tainted humanity — that causes us to look in all sorts of places, among all sorts of people, for fulfillment.  We learn that from the time we are infants and it appears to be reinforced in us throughout our lives.

Yet, the only one that we truly need is the one that we often avoid the most:  God.

God is our savior.

He is our strength.

He is the joy in our hearts.

Or, He could be, if we let Him.

FAITH ACTION:  Spend some time in reflection this day asking yourself the questions: How has God blessed me?  In what ways has He given me strength?  How do I derive my joy from Him?  When you identify the answer to those questions, take the time to thank Him from the bottom of your heart.
