God Chooses Whom He Wishes

15 Jul

The LORD took me from following the flock, and said to me,
Go, prophesy to my people Israel.  (Am 7:15)

Amaziah tried to get rid of Amos, telling him to go back to Judah and quit prophesying in Bethel.  Amos responded that he had never planned on being a prophet.  Amos was a shepherd and a dresser of sycamores.  However, God had other plans for him.  God called him.  God sent him.  And Amos listened to God.

They say that the best way to make God laugh is to tell Him our plans.

We make plans all the time.

We often do not think about the plans that God has for us.

Every so often, however, a moment of clarity strikes and we realize that God is calling us to do something, to say something, to be someone, to go somewhere.

The choice?  That is entirely ours.

The plan?  It is entirely the Lord’s.

FAITH ACTION:  You may have lots of plans for this day, this week, this month, this year, maybe for the rest of your life.  Take some time in prayer today, however, and ask God if your plans fit His plans for you.  I guarantee you, if your plans do not, you will be incredibly unhappy.  Choose to accept God’s plans for you this day.
