Get To Know The Son

16 Jul

“No one knows the Son except the Father,
and no one knows the Father except the Son
and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.”  (Mt 11:27)

Jesus was not saying this to taunt His followers.  He was saying this so that His followers might get a proper perspective on their lives.

So many times in our lives we prioritize things rather poorly.  We think some things are very important and find out, later, that they are not.  At the same time, we thing other things are useless only to find out that they are what we should have been most concerned about.

It is that way in our relationship with God.

We oftentimes think that it is more important to “get ahead” in this world than anything else.  All that other “stuff” can wait.  Even God can wait.  After all, we say to ourselves, God will always be around but this new position, this person, this goal, isn’t going to be around forever.

So we spend all of our time and energy pursuing things that will get us absolutely nowhere.

Has God always been around?  Yes.

Will God always be around?  Of course.

Can we break God’s heart for not giving Him priority in our lives?  You betcha!

If we want to know God better, we have to develop a deeper relationship with His Son.  We cannot develop a relationship with Jesus if we do not make the time for Him.

Can you clear your calendar today for an appointment with the Lord?

FAITH ACTION:  Take a good bit of time for silent prayer today.  Ask Jesus to reveal Himself to you.
