Do Not Invite Disaster

18 Jun

Jesus said to his disciples:
“No one can serve two masters.
He will either hate one and love the other,
or be devoted to one and despise the other.
You cannot serve God and mammon.”  (Mt 6:24)

Jesus was a man of few words when He wanted to be.

You cannot pack more into a phrase than he did above.

We cannot be faithful to God AND to the things of this world.  To think otherwise is to invite disaster.

We often acknowledge that; however, we do not as often live that.

We cannot say that it is impossible to serve two masters while, at the same time, doing that very thing.  The world often lures us into a false belief that we can handle ourselves well enough to juggle our faith in God while immersing ourselves in the traps of sin.

Break loose!

Let today’s Gospel passage be a clarion call to embrace the ways of the Lord and to quit serving the world.

FAITH ACTION:  Make a list (mental or actual) of your priorities.  If God, faith, and prayer are not at the top of your list, make adjustments to get back on track.
