Do Not Deny Him; But, Remain In Him

2 Jan

And now, children, remain in him,
so that when he appears we may have confidence
and not be put to shame by him at his coming.  (1 Jn 2:28)

Christmas is one of those seasons that shows us quite vividly that we have an abundance of choices at our disposal.  If you are looking for a stuffed animal, you will find that they come in all sorts of shapes, sizes, and colors (and prices, too!)  If you want a board game, you will be shocked at the variety available.

There are a plethora of choices awaiting us.

These choices affect everything around and about us — including our spiritual lives.

We can get so lost in the choices around us that we forget to choose the Lord.  The temptations surrounding us often make us take our eyes off of the true prize.  We get confused by all the glitz and glitter of the here and now that we forget we are not going to be here for long.

If we lose sight of Him, if we take our eyes off of Him, we run the risk of losing sight of the Kingdom.  Jesus told us quite often that the road to the Kingdom is narrow and those who find it are few.  We should not jeopardize our way by giving in to the distractions around us.

We are in to the second day of our New Year.  So many jokes abound about how long a New Year’s Resolution lasts for most people.  Sadly, the jokes are based upon reality.  People make and break resolutions at an astounding rate.

This often happens to our spiritual resolutions as well.  As a matter of fact, our spiritual resolutions often get broken even quicker than our other resolutions.

Hold firm.  Cling to the Lord for dear life because it is our eternal life that is at stake.

FAITH ACTION:  Ask the Lord for all the graces that you need to remain in Him today.
