Do Good

9 Feb

Through Jesus, let us continually offer God a sacrifice of praise,
that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name.
Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have;
God is pleased by sacrifices of that kind.  (Heb 13:15-17)

“It’s not what you know, it’s what you show!”

Bishop Andrew G. Grutka, D.D., the first bishop of the Diocese of Gary, was forever quoted saying that.

He reminded us at confirmations, ordinations, and other public events that it was not what we knew but what we showed that made all the difference in the world.

That is so true.

People may listen to our words.

However, they will gauge us by whether or not our actions are consistent with our words.

We can praise God all we want.  If, however, we do not go good works, our praises are meaningless.  If we want to praise God, we must do good to and for others.  For, as we hear, God is pleased by sacrifices of that kind.

FAITH ACTION:  What good can you do for someone today?  Don’t just think it.  Do it!
