Compassionate Understanding

25 May

As a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him,
For he knows how we are formed;
he remembers that we are dust.  (Ps 103:13-14)

We do not believe in a God who is “way out there”, far removed from us and our activities.

We do not believe in a God who could care less for His creation.

No.

We believe in a God who loves us because He has created us in His divine image.

Not only that; but, our God also became one of us in the wonderful mystery of the Incarnation.

God knows us intimately.

Unlike our earthly saying, “Familiarity breeds contempt, God is completely familiar with us and loves us unconditionally nonetheless.

It should be comforting to know that God understands us because, quite literally, He has gotten into our skin.

When we shed this earthly skin, we will have the opportunity to get into God’s all-embracing arms for eternity.

Thank God that He understands us and loves us.

Let us render our thanks to Him by understanding and loving those around us.

FAITH ACTION:  Have you been less than understanding of someone else’s faults/failings?  Pray for that person and try to support that person.
