Christ Is The King

26 Nov

The Lord is king, in splendor robed;
robed is the Lord and girt about with strength.

And he has made the world firm,
not to be moved.
Your throne stands firm from of old;
from everlasting you are, O Lord.

Your decrees are worthy of trust indeed;
holiness befits your house,
O Lord, for length of days. (Ps 93:1,1-2,5)

Today is the Feast of Christ, The King of the Universe.

It certainly begs the question, does it not: Is Christ you King?

Oh, sure, we often claim that Christ is our King.

However, do we live that reality daily?  Do we embrace our King’s laws?  Do we obey His commands?  Do we do His will?

Or, do we spend our time trying to create and reinforce our own kingdoms here on earth?

Make no mistake.

Some people can make pretty nice kingdoms for themselves.  They may position themselves properly, have lots of money, be highly influential.  However, no amount of kingdom-building here on earth is a promise of entry into the Kingdom of God.

It is only in abiding by the Lord’s rules that we will have any chance of eternal life.

If Christ is your king, you know what you have to do.

FAITH ACTION:  Spend a half hour in front of the Blessed Sacrament today, adoring Christ, our King.

[If you are a member of St. Thomas More Parish, the Eucharist will be exposed after the Noon Mass until closing during the 7:00 p.m. service.  Each evening at 7:00 p.m. we will have a closing service.  Our guest is Fr. Rick Holy.]
