King Of All Nations
O King of all nations and keystone of the Church;
come and save man, whom you formed from the dust!
There are many people known to us who “want what they want when they want it.” It should not — can not — be that way among us. We are called to be servants to all and masters to none. After all, we have one Master, Jesus Christ, our King and Lord.
In the “O Antiphons”, we remember this day that Jesus, for whom we wait, is the King of all nations. If Jesus is the King of all nations, it stands to reason, He must be allowed to be our own personal King. If we reject His rule, how can He be the King of all?
We acclaim Jesus as our King (we recently celebrated the feast of Christ the King) and we should, therefore, live as His servants. As Christmas Day approaches in the matter of a few days, let us be ready to greet our King.
That means that we have to let go of all desire to be our own rulers and to quit trying to rule/control others. There is no room in our lives to be both servant as well as Lord. We can be one or the other but not both.
FAITH ACTION: In quiet prayer today, ask the Lord to accept you as His humble servant and ask Him to be your Lord and King.
