Are You In Bad Company?

14 Nov

“If you’re lonely when you’re alone, you’re in bad company.”  ~ Jean-Paul Sartre

There are times in our lives that we will be alone.  It is inevitable.  There are never people around us at all times.  However, some people dread being alone because, when they are, they often feel quite lonely as well.  The people who feel that way generally feel that there is nothing inside of them that makes them worthwhile or makes them matter to others.  They could not be further from the truth.

If you ever feel that way, remember the first important piece of information: Jesus dwells within us all.  That, in and of itself, makes us very special and priceless.  We never have to worry about having any kind of worth.  We are all priceless in the sight of God.

The second important piece of information is that Jesus walks with us every moment of our lives.  All we need to do is ask Him to show Himself to us and we will never have to feel lonely.  We are always in good company because we are always in the company of the Lord.

The best way not to feel lonely when we are alone is to fill our lives with goodness and love.  If we contribute to the poor and the needy, visit the home bound, check in on elderly neighbors, in short, perform the corporal and spiritual works of mercy, we will not feel lonely.  We will, instead, be filled with good, positive memories of what we have done that will sustain us in our ministries and will give us a sense of self worth.

FAITH ACTION:  Keep yourself centered in Christ today so that you do not have to worry about being alone.
