Are Things Falling Apart?

4 May

“Sometimes when things are falling apart, they may actually be falling into place.”
~ J. Lynn

None of us would choose pain.  None of us would choose struggle.  None of us would choose fright.  These are things that most people generally shy away from experiencing.  We like things to go smoothly.  We like to experience joy.  We want happiness and not sorrow.  However, we do not always get what we want.

There are times in our lives when we look around, shake our heads, and say to ourselves, “How did I get here?  How did this happen?  What did I do wrong?”  The answer may be that we did nothing wrong, that we had no control over how or why we got to any moment in our lives, and that it simply happened.

We forget that we are not in control of the universe and that there are times we cannot be in control even of our own lives.  There are things that just happen.  What we can control is the way we react/respond to those times in our lives.

God has a plan.  He has a plan for creation and that most certainly extends to each and every person in His creation.  We times are rough, we need to ask God what His plan is for us in the midst of those situations.  He might be teaching us patience or empathy.  He might be testing us or proving us.  Or, He might simply be walking side by side and hand in hand with us because what is happening might be the result of a sinful, tainted world.

God is not the author of pain, destruction, and death.  He is the author of life.  Because of the consequence of original sin, pain, destruction, and death entered our world.  That is something with which we must live.  But we do not have to live with those consequences alone.  We could see the hand of God in the midst of our experiences reaching out to us so that He may guide us lest we fall.

Sometimes, we are too quick to point the finger at God and blame Him for our misfortune.  When we are too busy pointing the finger, though, we will not be able to take His hand so that He can lead us out of our misery.  God can bring order out of chaos if we allow Him to do so.  Don’t let your world fall apart.  Instead, allow God to help you so that things fall into place.

FAITH ACTION:  Ask God to show you a way through any chaos that may be in your life so that you can see the way He wishes you to follow.
