All Will Be Revealed

14 Oct

There is nothing concealed that will not be revealed,
nor secret that will not be known.
Therefore whatever you have said in the darkness
will be heard in the light,
and what you have whispered behind closed doors
will be proclaimed on the housetops.  (Lk 12:2-3)

Today’s Gospel might be quite worrisome for many.  After all, we spend a great deal of our lives attempting to keep things secret.

There may have been things that we have done, things that we have said, or things that we have left undone or unsaid that would embarrass us if they were ever to get out.

Well, consider this.

Everything we have ever done, ever said, ever left undone, or ever left unsaid will one day be “brought to the light” when the light of Christ exposes us exactly for who and what we are.

If we are people who have given ourselves over to the world and all its temptations, we might be able to keep that under wraps in our lifetime.  However, when we face our God, nothing will be able to be hidden from Him or from anyone else.

That might be something very important to remember when we are faced with decisions in our lives.  We should ask ourselves, “How would I feel if everyone knew about this?”

If we would feel all right about something we are considering, chances are it is the right thing to do.  If, on the other hand, we would feel embarrassed, ashamed, upset, or depressed to know that our actions would be known by all, that might be a reminder to us not to act.

It is not that we have to live in fear or in shame.  It is just that we should live viewing our choices in life through the lens of Christ Jesus, Our Lord.  Only then will we make the choices that we should.

FAITH ACTION:  Are you considering doing something or saying something that you know in your heart is not the right thing?  Change your mind before it is too late.
