Abandon Yourself To Him

2 Apr

“I cannot do anything on my own;
I judge as I hear, and my judgment is just,
because I do not seek my own will
but the will of the one who sent me.”  (Jn 5:30)

How refreshing!

It is practically impossible to find someone who has absolutely no personal agenda.  Personal agendas abound and radically change many a project, many a life.

Jesus told the people, however, that He had no personal agenda at all.  His sole agenda was to do “the will of the one who sent” Him.

In our own lives, we learn, from a very early age, how to couch some of our thoughts and feelings so that, when we interact with others, we can steer them to do what we wanted to do.  We may have let them think that we were in it for some other reason; however, what was really true was that we were in it for ourselves.

But it should not be that way.

Our whole life should be for one reason: to do the will of God.

His will may go against what we want to do, where we want to be, who we are.  Yet, in order, truly, to be fulfilled, we need to embrace God’s will instead of our own.

Can we try to do that today?

FAITH ACTION:  In silent prayer, say to the Lord with deep faith and trust, “I abandon myself to You.  May Your will be done this day, Lord, not my will.”
