Is Nothing Guaranteed?

“Darling, forever is a long, long time. And time has a way of changin’ things.”  ~ From The Fox and the Hound

One of the things that we are taught at a very young age is to question everything.  We are told that nothing is as it appears.  We are instructed to read the small print and to look for anything that might  have been attempted to be hidden.  Even when we dot the i’s and cross the t’s, we are told that nothing is guaranteed, that everything can change.

That can lead to a very frustrating existence.  When we question everyone and everything, when we decide that no one is trustworthy and that there is no guarantee out there, we become suspicious of everyone and everything.  That leads to all sorts of negative feelings and actions directed at others.

While it is true, in many ways, that the vast portion of our lives and our world are unpredictable and changing, there is something that is eternally unchanging and unchangeable and that is God.  God’s love is permanent and forever.  God’s mercy is permanent and forever.  We can count on that today, tomorrow, and forever.

Our experiences in this world might make us think that God is the same as everyone else.  The devil would certainly want us to believe that God is changeable and unpredictable.  However, God is the only certainty in life.  Therefore, do everything that you can to cling to Him.

FAITH ACTION:  Invest yourself in the guaranteed unchangeable:  God’s love and mercy.  Live as His faithful servant today.
