We Need To Let Some Things Go

“Don’t cling to a mistake just because you spent a lot of time making it.”  ~ Aubrey de Grey

I have met many people in my life who are in the absolutely wrong walk of life.  What’s worse is that they know it.  What’s even sadder is that they refuse to do anything about it because “the devil they know is better than the devil they don’t.”  They’ve made a mistake going in the profession they are in but they didn’t want to take the time or energy to correct it.  Instead, they remained and became more and more miserable.

It is awful to think that there are people who remain in the wrong walk of life.  We might even make the assumption that it is almost impossible for people to remain in the wrong walk of life.  One look around will find that there are many who do.

The same thing that keeps some people locked in a walk of life keeps people locked in a certain way of living the faith.  They may never have grown in the faith because they are comfortable where they are at in the present moment.  Well, maybe not comfortable.  But, at least, not as uncomfortable as trying something new.

What is it about letting go of things that hinder us?  What is it about trying something new?  None of us should remain where we are in the present moment.  We were not made to remain in one place.  We were all made to change and to grow.  Changing and growing may be challenging.  It may even be painful.  But it is necessary.  It is much better in the long run than being trapped in a rut.

If things haven’t worked out for you, look to what you might be able to do instead.  Never be afraid to step out into something new.

FAITH ACTION:  Let go of the things that are keeping you from a closer relationship with God.
