Crowned With Glory
Not as of old a little child to bear, and fight, and die,
but crowned with glory like the sun that lights the morning sky.
Children are very fragile people. When they are born, they are in absolutely no position to fend for themselves. They can hardly feed and clothe themselves, let alone protect themselves from enemies who may wish to harm them. Instead, they are totally dependent upon the love of their parents and family members.
Jesus was in the same state when He was born. He emptied Himself of the glory that was rightfully His and assumed, instead, the frailty of our human flesh in the mystery of the Incarnation. Because of that, the all-powerful God became fragile and a target. The king wanted Him dead and Joseph and Mary had to flee to Egypt to preserve His life.
As Jesus grew, there would be others who sought to take His life. He walked through the midst of many a crowd that would kill Him. At the given time, though, He was taken by a crowd, rushed through a prearranged process, convicted, sentenced to death, and crucified. Death could not hold Him, though, and on the third day, He rose from the dead, “crowned with glory like the sun that lights the morning sky.”
Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. Jesus is the light that dispels darkness and death. Jesus is the fragile infant no more but our great God and King. He showers us with grace upon grace so that we may survive the pitfalls of this world and have the opportunity to enter into His Kingdom. Ask Him to take your side today so that you may be victorious in your fight.
