Be Responsible For Your Faith

31 Oct

“A child asked his dad, ‘What’s a man?’  His father responded, ‘A man is someone who is responsible and who cares for his family.’  The child replied, ‘I hope one day that I can be a man just like mom!’

Leave it to children.  They cut through the fluff of life and proclaim very accurate, if not embarrassing, truths.  I’m sure the dad in today’s highlight was more than a bit surprised.  Children see what we do and who we are.  For that matter, anyone sees what we do and who we are.  We are not that good at hiding ourselves.  Sometimes, the only person we fool is ourselves.

When people look at us, do they see women and men of faith?  Do they see women and men who believe in Jesus Christ?  Do they see women and men who continue Jesus’ mission by helping the poor and needy?  Or, do they see people who talk the talk but fail to walk the walk?

Make no mistake.  We cannot hide the true people that we are.  By listening to us and watching our actions, others will be able to discover just who and what we are without much difficulty.

Don’t live a lie.  Don’t say that you are a believer but live like a heathen.  Don’t say that you love everyone but spread hate.  Don’t say that you care but fail to reach out to people who are hurting, lonely, or oppressed.  By our fruits, we shall be known.

FAITH ACTION:  Live your life in such a way today that there is no doubt that you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.

On a totally separate note:  When you go to bed tonight,
do not forget to turn your clocks BACK one hour.
We get an extra hour of sleep this weekend!
