Celebrate Each Day

13 Oct

“Let every dawn be to you as the beginning of life, and every setting sun be to you as its close.”  ~ John Ruskin

I’m a crier.  I’m not afraid to admit that.  Not even ashamed to admit that.  I cry while telling moving stories.  I cry hearing moving stories.  I cry at major celebrations.  I usually cry watching the end-of-the-day fireworks at Disney.  So, it should not surprise you to hear that I cried the first time I saw the movie, The Lion King.  As the sun came up and the animals began moving, the opening song began, “From the day we arrive on the planet and blinking, step into the sun, there’s more to be seen than can ever be seen, more to do than can ever be done.” (Circle of Life, Elton John)  Truth be told, I cry each time I watch the movie’s opening.

I have a keen appreciation of life and its value.  The whole concept of the circle of life is, to me, quite profound.  Every day is a new day complete with new promise and new opportunity.  Every night is an opportunity to be grateful for what was experienced and achieved that day as well as to look forward to another set of promises the next day.

If we do not feel accomplished at the end of our day, it might be because we never looked at that day as a great gift filled with hope and promise.  Our perspective is very important to how we view our day as well as how we reflect upon what has happened at the end of the day.  Our day should begin with a thank you to God for the gift of another day.  Our day should end with a thank you to God for the gifts received that day.

One day, we shall close our eyes to this life and wake up to the dawn of an eternal life.  If we are practiced in giving thanks to God, we will be prepared to meet Him with joy and thank Him for the glory awaiting each and every one of us.

FAITH ACTION:  Greet the day with enthusiasm and close your day with profound thanksgiving to God.
