You Are Precisely Who God Needs

“If you think you’re too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito in the room.”  ~ Dalai Lama

I think we all have had the experience of a mosquito or a fly buzzing around us at night.  We might lie perfectly still waiting for the pest to approach and, judging by the sound, wait for the most opportune time to strike.  What happens in this scenario?  We all know the answer.  We strike ourselves in the face or on the head an innumerable amount of times and the pesky noise continues because we never manage to hit the bug.

“If you think you’re too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito in the room.”  Those words should be taken to heart.  We often feel that God could never use us, that we are too small, too insignificant.  We think that there are other people who are stronger in the faith, more courageous, more in tune with God.  They are the ones who should be chosen to do God’s will.  We do not have enough to offer.

God looks at us and says, “Nonsense.  You have everything I need.”  And we do.  Our souls are created in God’s image and likeness.  They lack nothing.  We simply need to embrace God’s will and be confident that He will supply us all that is necessary in order to carry out His appointed tasks for us.

The indomitable mosquito is victorious as it flies around us.  We can be just as indomitable in our work for the Lord.  Yes, the world will swat at us because it does not want the Word proclaimed to others.  It will do its best to squash us so that we cannot be of service to God.

The world cannot quiet the message of salvation that was wrought for us in Christ’s death and resurrection.  Jesus even indicated that in His entrance to Jerusalem when he said that even if His followers were quieted, the stones themselves would proclaim His praise.

So, do not be afraid.  Do not think that you are insignificant.  If God is calling you, He is confident that you are precisely who He needs.

FAITH ACTION:  Give your all to God today and be confident that He can use you to further His Kingdom.
