We Have Not Been Skipped Over

I could not believe yesterday. When I woke up, it was dark and cold and damp. You could see something brewing in the air. By the time I was going over to the office at 6:45 a.m., it was snowing. I could not believe it. Snowing. I had already read about the 50+ car pile up on a Chicago expressway because of slick conditions and I thought to myself, “Have we been on a stay-in-place so long that it’s December already?!” It felt like spring and summer had passed us by.
“No winter lasts forever; no spring skips its turn.” While it might feel to us like we are stuck in a Groundhog Day movie sequel, what we are going through at the present time will pass. We have seen things like this before. Maybe we do not remember things lasting as long as the stay-in-place during this pandemic; however, history shows us that these types of things do, indeed, pass.
While we are waiting in place, it might help us if we looked ahead. We should not only look ahead to the things we will do and places we will go once again when things open back up. We should also look to the Lord who gives us peace, comfort, and strength in order to go through these kinds of times. God’s love and mercy never pass us by. His love is eternal and the hope that He extends through the resurrection of Jesus Christ is something on which we can all count.
Maybe you know someone who feels skipped over. Maybe you know someone down in the dumps because of the pandemic and its restrictions. Today might be a really good day for you to reach out to those people and let them know that you are thinking about them and praying for them. Assure them that this will not last forever and that God does not skip over any of us.
FAITH ACTION: Ask the Lord to rekindle in your soul the hope of resurrection.
