Love Deeply

“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.”  ~ Lao Tzu

Love is an extremely powerful reality.  When someone truly loves another, that person will go to any length to help the other.  They would give up their own life if necessary.  That is how strong love is.

God loves us deeply.  His love gives us the strength that we need to face the trials of this world.   When we love God as deeply as we can in return, we find courage to love others.  That courage enables us to overlook obstacles and dangers.  That courage enables us to be witnesses of God’s love.  That courage gives us the strength to be selfless.

There is nothing quite so satisfying or so freeing as love.  It is more than an emotion.  It is a deep state of being.  The great saints, especially those we call mystics, knew that.  They sought to love God with their entire being.  Their love for God exemplified itself in great miracles.  Their love for God exemplified itself in their receiving the wounds of Christ, the stigmata.  Their love for God exemplified itself in their offering up their lives in order to save others as in the case of Maximilian Kolbe.

Love can erase a multitude of errors and sins.  Love can change a person and all those that person contacts.  Pure love can change the world.  Look at the “revolution” that began with Jesus’ love for us.  He loved us so much that He died for us.  Rising from the dead, He gives His love freely and challenges us to go into our world, giving His love away to others.

The gift that you have been given, give to others as gift.  God loves you, freely, completely, and unconditionally.  Will you not love others in return?

FAITH ACTION:  Love everyone you encounter today with the love of Christ.
