Work For What Has The Most Value

12 Aug

“When you work on something that only has the capacity to make you five dollars, it does not matter how much harder you work — the most you will make is five dollars.”
~ Idowu Koyenikan

I think we can all say that we have seen people in life work ridiculously long hours in very demanding jobs and make very little.  It seems that the more they work, the less they get, except, of course, for aggravation.  Sometimes, people are stuck in those kinds of occupations and they cannot do any more than what they are doing.  If they leave, their means and the means for their families would be taken away.

There are many who long for the jobs that bring in a lot of compensation.  They are just waiting for those kinds of jobs.  When they land one, they realize that they were extremely lucky and do everything that they can to hold on to their positions.

If only people would treat their faith and spirituality in the same manner.  God, after all, has the most value for any soul.  The Kingdom of God is more valuable than anything the kingdom of this world has to offer.  You would think that people would be looking for ways to get closer to God so that they could embrace that something of great value that He extends to us.  However, too many have become deluded by the lures of the world and, somehow, think that the world has more to offer than God.

It sounds crazy.  You and I know it’s crazy.  Yet, there are those who believe that the world is the be all and end all and not the Kingdom of God.  How sad.  The people trapped by the world can work and work and work and all they will receive are transitory things that have no value compared to eternity.  The flash and glitz of this world cannot buy anyone eternal reward.

Don’t you think, then, that we should be more focused on doing the works of God so that we could end up being called to the Kingdom of God rather than languishing in the false allure of the world that leads to eternal death?

FAITH ACTION:  Do all that you can do to accomplish the work of the Lord today.
