Do Not Allow Yourself To Be Limited

Doubt is a huge problem for us. When we doubt ourselves or others, we form strong opinions that impinge upon reality. If we doubt we can do something, we generally avoid attempting to do it. If we do make an attempt, our doubt often has us holding back, thus guaranteeing failure. If we doubt other people, we will not put faith or trust in them. If forced to do so for some reason, we will not expect anything and may even sabotage their attempts to help us because we doubt that they can.
My first lesson about doubt and overcoming doubt was “The Little Engine That Could.” How many of us heard that simple story and repeated, “I think I can, I think I can, I think I can?” The message was quite simple and effective: if you think you can do something, if you put your mind to it, you will be able to follow through and overcome whatever obstacle might be in your path.
“The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today.” President Roosevelt was so right about that. How can we possible look ahead with hope if we mire ourselves down with doubt? How can we think that we can achieve greatness if we believe that we will fail? How can we initiate any change if we believe that we are not up to the task?
In case you have forgotten, Jesus destroyed failure. Jesus destroyed sin. Jesus destroyed death. He accomplished that when He confidently took up the cross, went to Calvary, suffered and died. He knew that He could rise again and He did just that.
The next time doubt attempts to overtake you, remember that Jesus Christ has given you the victory and has promised to stand by you every step of the way. Cast aside your doubt and be confident in what you are called to do.
FAITH ACTION: In your prayer today, ask God to fill you with joy and hope so as to disperse any doubt that may attempt to form in your heart and mind.
