Embrace The Unknown

“Don’t be in such a rush to figure everything out.  Embrace the unknown and let your life surprise you.”  ~ Unknown

There is a certain part of us that absolutely abhors surprises.  We want to know what’s coming our way.  We want to be forewarned so that we could prepare for reactions or consequences. We do not like certain types of surprises.

Then again, on the other hand, there is a certain part of us that enjoys surprises.  We enjoy surprising others at parties or events.  We enjoy when someone throws us a surprise party.  Those kinds of events are pleasant and build us up.

We need to cultivate the welcoming of surprise.  God most often comes to us in surprises.  There are rare occasions where we would be able to say “Do this and this and this and you will be able to encounter God.”  No.  God does not work that way.  It is not because God doesn’t like us or doesn’t care about us.  It is just that God is outside of our time and space.  He is in the eternal while we dwell in the temporal realm.

One day, we will break free from the grasp that the world has on us and enter the eternal.  Until that time, we need to keep our eyes open so that we can see and acknowledge God in the many encounters that come our way.  We need to remain open to the possibilities of God in our daily lives lest we miss Him as He comes to us.

God cannot be planned out.  We need to let God be God so that He may surprise us with His presence and His love.

FAITH ACTION:  Live your life with confidence today and look for God in unexpected places and unexpected people.
