How Far Will You Go?

20 Jun

“Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.”
~ T.S. Eliot

Safety.  It is a word that is not only in our vocabulary but, because of the state of society and of the world, is of primary concern.  Safety.  People do all sorts of things to ensure their safety.  They arm themselves, fortify their homes, place security cameras all over the place, and become highly suspicious of others.

Safety.  It keeps people from venturing away from home because of the possibility of danger either from others or from the environment.  It keeps people from joining organizations because they do not trust those they may meet.  It keeps people isolated.

While God does not want us to jeopardize ourselves, neither does He want us to lock ourselves away from the world.  As a matter of fact, God wants us to go out into the world and to tell the world all about His Son.

God has promised to watch over us, to guard us and protect us.  I should acknowledge, at this point, that means that God will watch over and protect our souls.  He will never allow any harm to come to the soul dedicated to Him.

Will harm come to our bodies through the world?  Perhaps.  Will the world be able to harm our souls?  Not if we keep ourselves close to God.  He will guide us, guard us, and bring us home to Himself at the end of our days.

Do not fear.  Find out how far you can go in serving the Lord confident that He will be there for you along the way.

FAITH ACTION:  Have you become somewhat stale in the practice of your faith?  Push yourself farther today and see where the Lord takes you.
