Don’t Forget Prayer

28 Mar

“You can do more than pray after you have prayed; but you can never do more than pray until you have prayed.”  ~ A.J. Gordon

There are many ingredients that go into an award-winning recipe.  They must all be present and be in the correct amount.  They must be the best quality possible as well.  If you have quality ingredients and the correct amount of each, you will have a recipe that people will enjoy and cherish.

Life has certain ingredients as well.  Among them are humility, faithfulness, honesty, and integrity.  The most important ingredient for our lives, however, is none of those mentioned.  The most important ingredient is prayer.

We must begin everything that we do with prayer.  If we do not, we begin out of focus.  If we begin out of focus, we are in jeopardy of losing the way.  We must be sharply focused on the path we take each day.  While we start our day out with prayer, we need to remember to prayer throughout the day.  When we break for lunch, a prayer would be quite appropriate.  Our prayer might be one of thanksgiving for what we achieved in the morning or asking for grace to accomplish all that needs to be done in the afternoon, or both.

At the end of our day, we need to say a prayer of thanksgiving for all that was accomplished during the day and for the way God may have manifested Himself to us.  Praying that way, we make ourselves ready to begin again the next day.

Of course, it stands to reason, our next day should begin with prayer as we begin the cycle all over again.  Our prayer fuels our action.  Our action prompts our prayer.  In doing so, we make sure that we keep our gaze fixed on the Lord.  He will guide our ways.

FAITH ACTION:  In order to do your best today, make sure to begin your day with prayer, reinforce your day with further prayer, and end your day with thankful prayer.
