Are You Going To Commit?

“Unless commitment is made, there are only promises and hopes … but no plans.”
~ Peter Drucker

There are a couple of people that I have known for a long time who have done great and wonderful things.  They have built empires, brought people together, solved a lot of problems, and generally made life better for those around them.  At least, that is what they have done in their dreams.  That have talked about these kinds of things for years but have never gone past the “talking about” phase.

I think we all know someone like that.  I hope none of us fit into that category.

Then again, maybe most of us do fit into that category at least when it comes to the faith.  We may be wonderful business leaders, teachers, coaches, doctors, nurses, clergy, and the like.  We may do our jobs quite well.  However, how dedicated are we to our faith lives?  Are we really committed to the Lord?  Or, do we tend to give up when the going gets tough?

If we tend to share our hopes and dreams about the faith but are not willing to go any further, we are not really committed to the Lord.  We are like the seed that falls on shallow ground.  We might look like we are doing good; but, we do not have enough roots to sustain ourselves in the faith.  We then become in jeopardy of faltering.

Commitment is essential if we are to call ourselves Christian.  We cannot say that we belong to Christ if we are not ready to live as Christians each and every moment of the day.

FAITH ACTION:  Make a firm intention to commit to following the Lord today no matter where He may lead.
