Be Excellent

26 Jan

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”  ~ Aristotle

It really is that easy: do it, do it again, do it still again, repeat the cycle.  That’s what excellence is all about.  Repetitive action designed to make something a habit, something second nature to us.  The practice of our faith falls into the same category.

How do we become excellent in the practice of our faith?  By praying, over and over and over again.  By doing the corporal and spiritual works of mercy over and over and over again.  By forgiving not seven times but seventy times seven times.  By giving without expectation to receive continuously.  The list goes on and on.

The practice of the faith, in short, is never a one-time thing.  It is a continuous thing.  It is something that demands action every moment of every day.  If we can get into the habit of practicing the faith, that will carry us far.  It will take us past the dark times that may come upon us in our lives.

Continuously practicing our faith not only helps us; but, it acts as an inspiration to others.  There are so many people that need an example of what it means to live faithfully.  Be that example for others today.  Do not put it off.  Putting it off never helps to develop good habits.  Putting things off only develops bad habits.

Practice the faith today.  Over and over and over again.  Be an inspiration to others.

FAITH ACTION:  Ask the Lord to give you the grace and the strength that you need to be a model of faith today.
