Share Your Dream

“A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality.”
~ Yoko Ono

We have often heard, “there is strength in numbers.”  It is very true.  If one person has an idea and does not share it, it will most likely be unrealized.  If, on the other hand, a person has an idea and shares it with another person, that other person can give validation and feedback to the idea and share suggestions to make the idea even better.  Once they tweak the idea, they can share it with another, and another, and another, until all of a sudden the idea of one person becomes a movement embraced by several or hundreds or thousands or millions.

One idea, one dream, kept to oneself is like the proverbial lighting of a lamp and then putting it under a basket.  It never gets spread anywhere.  But, one idea, one dream, shared with others can be a game-changer, a life-changer.

Jesus had a dream.  He dreamed that His people would live in love, would live in peace, with one another.  To show them that His dream was possible, He loved us to the max, giving us everything that we could ever need or desire.  The apostles and disciples did the same thing.  In the midst of persecution, they shared their dream of peace and love, of justice and mercy.  Even when mercy was not shown to them, they returned forgiveness.  That kind of example changed the hearts of many, making them believers.  Once the flame of faith was lit and caught, it could not be extinguished.

We were “lit” with that same flame at our baptism.  We are challenged to take our faith into the world so that we can share the flame of our faith with others, changing their lives and then commissioning them to go out and change still other lives.

Love, peace, mercy, and justice.  These can all snowball and change the world if shared by dedicated Christians.  Hate, discord, unforgiveness, and injustice will have to give way if enough people live the virtues of Christian life.

It begins with one person sharing his or her dream.  Jesus shared His dream with us.  Remember, He dreamed that all would live as one as He and His Father were one.  If Christ’s dream is your dream as well, share His dream with someone else.  The world does not have to remain the way it is.  Dream sharers can change it . . . even now.

FAITH ACTION:  Share the dream of your faith with one other person today.
