What Is Your Destination?

Last night, I had the opportunity to be at two separate gatherings where some type of award was being granted. The first was the annual Athletic Banquet and Awards Ceremony. This yearly evening recognizes those who participated and excelled in our different sports’ programs. The second event was an Eagle Scout Court of Honor at which one of our parishioners was granted the status of Eagle Scout.
At both events, someone’s achievement was acknowledged. It took a lot of work, time, and energy to achieve what was given last night. For those who received recognition, there was probably little that they would be able to put into words to match their feelings. However, the awards and recognition do not stop there because their awards also serve to inspire those who are coming up behind all those individuals.
The sports awards will inspire other, younger sports-minded students. It will teach them the value of hard work, team work, and responsibility. The Eagle Scout recognition also inspires younger scouts to keep on the path of the eagle so that they, too, might be able to reach the heights one day.
Our destination is so important. There are times that we need others to whom we could look so that we can get the inspiration that we need to continue and, at the end, to achieve.
FAITH ACTION: Think about those who have inspired you in your life and say a prayer for them, asking God to give them reward for what they have done for you. If possible, let them know personally what their example has meant to you.
