The Archangels, Our Champions

29 Sep

I will give thanks to you, O Lord, with all my heart,
for you have heard the words of my mouth;
in the presence of the angels I will sing your praise;
I will worship at your holy temple
and give thanks to your name.  (Ps 138:1-2)

I’m not just saying this because my name is Michael.  I think the Archangels are fantastic!  Each of the Archangels performed a different mission: Michael protected, as we hear in the Book of Revelation, Gabriel announced God’s invitation to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and Raphael guided Tobit’s son, Tobiah, and restored Tobit’s sight.

God loves us so much that He gives us opportunity after opportunity to say “yes” to His holy will.

He loves us so much that He sent His only Son to redeem us from sin and death.

He loves us so much that He gives us our own personal Guardian Angels to watch over each and every one of us.

He loves us so much that He sends some greater angels to give His message to us.

The Feast of Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, Archangels is an opportunity to celebrate God’s infinite love.

FAITH ACTION:  You might want to pray the prayer to St. Michael today:

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle;
be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray:
and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan and all the evil spirits
who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.
