Take Your Cue From God

21 Jul

Blessed are your eyes, because they see,
and your ears, because they hear.
Amen, I say to you, many prophets and righteous people
longed to see what you see but did not see it,
and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.  (Mt 13:16-17)

We are, indeed, a fortunate people.  After all, we live in the age after the death and resurrection of the Lord.  He has given us the opportunity for eternal life.

Many a generation waited for the coming of the Messiah.  They waited and prayed and hoped for that person’s coming.

When Jesus was born into history, the Messiah had arrived.

However, many of His people — the same people who waited and prayed and hoped for His coming — refused to believe in Him.

Jesus still works in our world and in our own lives.  Yet there are times that we, too, are so wrapped up in our own lives that we fail to see Him present and active.

FAITH ACTION:  In prayer, thank the Lord for all that He has done for you in the past.  When you are ready to conclude your prayer, say, “Lord, show yourself to me today.”  Count on the fact that He will reveal Himself if you will be open to it.
