Give God Your All

9 Jun

You have heard that it was said to your ancestors,
You shall not kill; and whoever kills will be liable to judgment.
But I say to you, whoever is angry with his brother
will be liable to judgment.  (Mt 5:21-22a)

Jesus was the master perfecter.

He told His people over and over again that He was not here to abolish any of the law but, rather, to fulfill it.

“You have heard it said…” was definitely an attention-getter.  His followers knew, when they heard those words, that Jesus was going to “kick it up a notch.”

He wanted His followers to give their all, not just a portion.

In order to give our all, we have to look at His laws in an entirely new way.

We cannot look at His laws and ask, “What’s in it for me?”  We have to look at His laws and ask, “How can I do this even better?”

When we give our all to God, He will definitely be pleased with us.

FAITH ACTION:  What have you done for the Lord yesterday?  Can you do even more, even better, today?
