It’s So Difficult To Be Good
You once were alienated and hostile in mind because of evil deeds;
God has now reconciled you
in the fleshly Body of Christ through his death,
to present you holy, without blemish,
and irreproachable before him,
provided that you persevere in the faith. (Col 1:21-23a)
The Good News? God has, indeed, reconciled us through the death and resurrection of His Son.
The bad news? It is so easy to slip back to our former ways of life.
In order to be presented holy, without blemish, and irreproachable before God, we do need to persevere in the faith.
Unfortunately, in order to persevere, we must be unwavering in our trust in God.
With the call of the world around us, with all the distractions that the world provides, it is so hard to fix our eyes on God.
Does prayer help you follow God? Then pray. Good works? Then do good works. Whatever helps you to keep fixed on God, make sure that you do it today. Don’t think about it. Don’t pray about it. Do it!
