The “In” Crowd

25 Jun

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’
will enter the Kingdom of heaven,
but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.”  (Mt 7:21)

We sure like to be with the “in” crowd, don’t we?

The most important “in” crowd of which to belong, of course, is eternity with the Lord.

Can you imagine the shock on the faces of the people who listened to Jesus?

He was speaking to a large group, many of whom believed that they were shoe-ins for the kingdom.

Yet, Jesus appeared to be telling them just the opposite:  “I never knew you.  Depart from me, you evildoers.”

That is very harsh.

However, if we do not want to hear Jesus tell us that when it is our turn to face Him, we had best get busy and not only listen to the words of the Lord but act upon them as well.

FAITH ACTION:  Are you just “coasting” in the faith?  It is time to do something for another person today.
