Everyone Matters

9 Feb

Whatever villages or towns or countryside [Jesus] entered,
they laid the sick in the marketplaces
and begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his cloak;
and as many as touched it were healed.  (Mk 6:56)

Thankfully for us, Jesus was a very inclusive person.  He helped all people who came to Him in need, trusting that He could help.  He did not withhold aid from anyone who sought it.

That is so unlike our own human nature.  We often engage in withholding help to others.  We may not help because they are a different color than we are, or belong to a different political party, or live on “the wrong side of the tracks”.  None of that matters to the Lord.

And none of that should matter to us.

When people come to us in need, we should not do all that we can to shirk our responsibility to that person.  God gave us the means to bless people and we must accomplish that if we are, truly, to call ourselves “Christian”.  Claiming to be a believer in Christ yet refusing to help His people makes us out to be liars.

Let us do all that we can to come to the aid of others.

FAITH ACTION:  Pray for those who need extra help to get by.  If you see someone in need today, do all that you can to help that person.
