God’s Grace Transforms Us

18 Sep

But by the grace of God I am what I am,
and his grace to me has not been ineffective.  (1 Cor 15:10a)

Many people seem to get caught up in the craze of “remaking” themselves.  Whether it be at the gym, in the professional arena, or other areas of life, there are those who think they have to be someone else, someone better.

Our souls long for a remaking of sorts as well.

As all souls long for God, we recognize our sinful nature and we long to do something about it. There are those souls, sadly, who reject God and any hope that would come their way. For the vast majority of us, though, our souls long for God’s grace because we realize His grace transforms us.

St. Paul wrote about that in his letter to the Church in Corinth.  He stated that it was God’s grace that made him who he was.  Remember, at one point in time, he was quite active — and successful — in hunting down Christians and having them put to death.  However, when grace entered his life, he became an entirely different person.  No longer focusing all his attention on destroying Christians, he attempted to convert as many people as possibile to Christianity.

As with Paul, if we cooperate with God’s grace, we will not be ineffective.

If we cooperate with God’s grace, God will use us.  We will become His hands and feet, His voice and His love.

It remains up to us to accept the grace that God wants to give to us.

How open are you to God today?

FAITH ACTION:  Ask God to give you the grace that you need so that not only your life, but the lives of all around you, may be transformed.
