Let God Use You

21 Aug

Thus the nations shall know that I am the Lord, says the Lord God,
when in their sight I prove my holiness through you.  (Ez 36:23b)

We often wonder where God is.

Many people say that He is absent to them or in their lives.

However, they fail to realize that He is there — right there — in the people all around them.

Think about it.  God proves His holiness through us.

We oftentimes say that about some of the “greats”.  Mother Teresa of Calcutta had it said of her over and over again that she was a living saint.  When people saw her, they saw someone who loved God.  Furthermore, they not only saw someone who loved God, they saw God Himself in all that she did.  When they saw her cradle a dying person in the gutters of Calcutta, they saw God cradling the dying person.  When they saw her hugging lepers, they saw God.

Of course.

They saw God because she was one of the “greats”.

When we say that, though, we forget a very simple yet profound reality: people can (and should) see God in us as well.

When we forgive someone who hurts us, we bring God’s mercy to them.  When we visit someone in the hospital or nursing home, we bring God to them.  When we do God’s work, we do it in His name.  We prove His holiness through our words and deeds.

The world that we live in rejects that reality.

The world that we live in would rather that we prove hatred and death, illness and harm.

What, or whom, are you going to prove today?

FAITH ACTION:  Ask God to give you the grace that you need to allow Him to use you today.
