From The Shackles Of Sin, Free Us, O Lord

29 Jul

Let the prisoners’ sighing come before you;
with your great power free those doomed to death.
Then we, your people and the sheep of your pasture,
will give thanks to you forever;
through all generations we will declare your praise.  (Ps 79:11,13)

We are all prisoners, at one time or another, to sin.  Some people wear the shackles of sin for their entire lives.

The longer we wear them, the more they feel as if they are a part of us.  When that happens, we are in grave danger of losing sight of the Lord for all eternity.

We, prisoners to sin, need to pray to God that He may set us free.

Only He can do it.

He wills to do it.

He has already set the stage for it by dying on the cross and rising from the dead.

Sin and death cannot hold the Lord.  As such, sin and death cannot hold anyone who belongs to the Lord.

Decide today whether you want to be one of the sheep of the flock of the Lord or whether you will continue to wear the manacles that sin places upon us all.

FAITH ACTION:  Pray for those who are so steeped in sin that they no longer recognize the danger that they are in.  Pray that they return to the Lord.
