Love The Lord

28 Mar

One of the scribes came to Jesus and asked him,
“Which is the first of all the commandments?”  (Mk 12:28)

We hear about commandments all the time.  We memorized the commandments when we were young.  We can quote them by number.  Thankfully, for us, there were only ten to memorize.

The Ten Commandments were not the only “commandments” that the Israelites learned.  An entire book in the Bible is filled with commands that they were to follow.  Many times, loud discussions would take place about which commandment was the most important.

Jesus made it very clear which command was the most crucial:  Love the Lord, our God.

If we love God — and our neighbor as ourselves — all the other commandments make sense.  Without love of God, there is no reason to want to follow any of the other commandments.

God loves us incredibly.

Are we willing to love Him just as much?

FAITH ACTION:  In prayer today, let the Lord know how much you love Him.  Do all that you can to show that love for the Lord serving those in need.
