Who Is In His Family?

28 Jan

The mother of Jesus and his brothers arrived at the house.
Standing outside, they sent word to Jesus and called him.
A crowd seated around him told him,
“Your mother and your brothers and your sisters
are outside asking for you.”
But he said to them in reply,
“Who are my mother and my brothers?”
And looking around at those seated in the circle he said,
“Here are my mother and my brothers.
For whoever does the will of God
is my brother and sister and mother.”  (Mk 3:31-35)

“Family.”

The very word itself evokes in many a sense of closeness, warmth, security, and love.

It is a word that speaks of identity.

It is a reality not to be messed with.  You mess with a member of the family and you take on the entire clan, not just one person.

Jesus tells us that we are all members of His family if we do the will of God.

Can you imagine the sense of belonging that can evoke?  The sense of security?  The sense of peace?

Whoever does the will of God is brother and sister and mother to the Lord.

You want to belong?

Do His will!

FAITH ACTION:  Ask the Lord to reveal His will to you so that you can accomplish it this day.
