Yes. He Does That And More

17 Jan

“Which is easier, to say to the paralytic,
‘Your sins are forgiven,’
or to say, ‘Rise, pick up your mat and walk’?
But that you may know
that the Son of Man has authority to forgive sins on earth”
–he said to the paralytic,
“I say to you, rise, pick up your mat, and go home.”
He rose, picked up his mat at once,
and went away in the sight of everyone.  (Mk 2:9-12a)

Sometimes we think that we have it rough.  We want to follow the Lord but, when we try, others put us down, they ignore us, or they actively work against us.

Do not forget, when that happens, you are in good company.  After all, they treated the Lord in just the same fashion.

Jesus was mocked by many.

Even though He had performed great signs, including raising people from the dead, there were many people who doubted Him.

In today’s Gospel, we hear about a paralytic who was lowered from a roof so that he could be in front of Jesus.  Jesus, moved with pity, told him that his sins were forgiven.

The crowd spoke to one another, “Who is this man that he forgives sins?!”

Jesus, in order to show them that He meant business, not only forgave the paralytic but also healed him and sent him home unbound physically as well as spiritually.

That is the kind of God that we have.

A God who loves us and will do anything for us.  He heals us, He forgives our sins, and, ultimately, He calls us back home to Himself.

Do not doubt.  Trust in the Lord.

FAITH ACTION:  Are you in need of healing? Of forgiveness?  Do not be afraid to ask the Lord.  He will provide all that you need.
