O Adonai
O Leader of the House of Israel,
giver of the Law to Moses on Sinai:
come to rescue us with your mighty power!
Who is the Lord?
Is the Lord God? Or is the Lord you?
So many times, we try to make ourselves out to be the lord of our lives and we become exceedingly frustrated because we find out quite quickly that it does not work.
We cannot control our world. We cannot control our own lives. We need to count on God, the true Lord and Master of all.
When we remember O Adonai, the Lord of the House of Israel, we remember a God of justice, of power, of mercy, of majesty. He is the God who promised to save us. He is the God who came to save us. He is the God who did save us.
He, the Lord, and He alone.
Let there be no god before Him — not even ourselves.
