Citizens

28 Oct

You are no longer strangers and sojourners,
but you are fellow citizens with the holy ones
and members of the household of God,
built upon the foundation of the Apostles and prophets,
with Christ Jesus himself as the capstone.  (Eph 2:19-20)

We are not strangers and sojourners.

At least, we are not supposed to be.

We are supposed to remember that we are all part of the one body of Christ.  We are brothers and sisters in the Lord, members of the household of God.

So often, we treat people like strangers.  Some people count, others do not.  Some people are on the right side of the tracks, others, on the wrong side.

I could go on and on with the ways that we divide ourselves.

There should be no division among God’s children, however.

We should be one in the Lord.

Let us not allow this sinful world to get in our way and cause us to create divisions.  Instead, let us foster harmony and concord.

FAITH ACTION:  What way can you “welcome the stranger” today?
