Have Faith

11 Aug

Faith is the realization of what is hoped for
and evidence of things not seen.
Because of it the ancients were well attested.  (Heb 11:1-2)

Throughout the ages, we have had examples from many great people of faith.  In the Letter to the Hebrews, Abel, Enoch, Abraham, Issac, and Jacob were all mentioned as people of great faith.

Abraham, called the father of faith, was also considered a “just man” — the highest attribute that one could have been given — because of his great faith in God.

We also hear that faith makes us pleasing to God.

We spend our lives scrambling for many things.

One thing alone is important.

God.

We may not be able to see Him.  We may not hear His voice.  We may not see the glory of God even though it envelopes us.  Nonetheless, we are called to embrace God in a deep, abiding faith.

If we do, that faith will be credited to us, just as it was to Abraham, and we will be pleasing to the Lord.

FAITH ACTION:  Make an act of faith this day.

Act of Faith
O my God, I firmly believe that you
are one God in three Divine Persons,
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; I believe
that your Divine Son became man,
and died for our sins, and that He will
come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe these and all the truths
the Holy Catholic Church teaches
because You have revealed them,
who can neither deceive nor be deceived.
