The Lord secures justice
and the rights of all the oppressed.
He has made known his ways to Moses,
and his deeds to the children of Israel. (Ps 103:6-7)
As far back as the recorded history of the Lord’s people goes, we have heard about the mercy and love of our God.
Not just a carefree, capricious mercy; but, a deep, long-abiding mercy for His people.
God is a God of love.
Oh, make no mistake. God demands repentance and, by His own admission, metes out punishment to those who deserve it. However, that is not God’s primary way.
God does not want to punish His people.
He wants to celebrate love with His people.
One of the other things that goes way back is the fact that all people are seen as God’s people. Not some some small sect. Not just some part of a population. But, all people.
God’s love, mercy, and justice are freely given to all.
We draw near to that loving, merciful God, asking Him to walk with us throughout this day.
FAITH ACTION: Pray for forgiveness from the Lord as well as mercy and justice for all of His people.
