Such confidence we have through Christ toward God.
Not that of ourselves we are qualified to take credit
for anything as coming from us;
rather, our qualification comes from God,
who has indeed qualified us as ministers of a new covenant,
not of letter but of spirit;
for the letter brings death, but the Spirit gives life. (2 Cor 3:4-6)
We are called to be ministers of Christ’s compassion and love.
Since it is God who does the calling, it is God who does the qualifying.
So many people act as if they are the be all and end all of helping others. They make sure that their worlds revolve around themselves.
It is God who qualifies us, who strengthens us, who leads us and who guides us.
If we remember that, we will never stray.
If we choose to forget that, we may make something of ourselves here on earth; but, it will not amount to anything. After all, if anything is not grounded in Christ, it is doomed to fail eventually.
The Spirit brings life. The Spirit brings gift. The Spirit brings hope.
Come, Holy Spirit, come!
FAITH ACTION: Pray to the Holy Spirit today, asking for the gifts that you need to be a good minister of Christ’s love.
