What A Friend We Have In Jesus

24 May

A faithful friend is a sturdy shelter;
he who finds one finds a treasure.
A faithful friend is beyond price,
no sum can balance his worth.  (Sir 6:14-15)

Friends.

We long for them.

They give us identity.

We feel safe and secure around them.

Friends are so very important in our lives.

From the time we first begin interacting with the world, we look for people to be our friends.

The “experts” say that we are lucky if we find two or three people throughout our lives that we truly can call “best friends”.

Friendship, it seems, is a rather rare commodity in our world.

Ah, but, what a friend we have in Jesus!

He told us greater love no person has than to die for a friend.

He then called us friends and proceeded to die for us so that we might have the opportunity to live forever with him.

Let us thank our God by trying to be the best friend that we can be to those around us this day.

FAITH ACTION:  Say a prayer of gratitude for your friends today.  Let a friend know how much he or she means to you.
